Relatives of disappeared people staged sit in for the 70th week

At the weekly sit-in called “Let the disappeared people be found, offenders be judged” organized by IHD (Human Rights Association) Diyarbakýr Branch and the relatives of the disappeared people, relatives asked “Is peace so difficult?”

The action which is held every week in front of the Right to Live Monument in Koþuyolu Park has now entered its 70th week.

People carried banners saying “Where are these people?”, “Don’t sacrifice children”. IHD Diyarbakýr Branch Secretary Burhan Zoroðlu said that the state doesn't respond to requests by human right activists and relatives of disappeared people. He added that the offenders have to be put on trial for the social peace. Zoroðlu also reminded that Israel’s attack on Palestine’s aid ships, which was condemned by whole Turkey, is not less important and serious than the unidentified murders which occurred in the region in the 90s.

IHD Dissappearance Commission Member Necibe Güneþ Perinçek asked to know the outcome of Sait Yolunur who disappeared after being taken to boarding region school by Bolu Commander Brigade on 18 May 1994 in Lice/Diyarbakýr.
