The body of HPG guerrilla Mahmut Özdemir (Dilgeş Şerzan), who fell as a martyr together with HPG guerrilla Mahsum Yasak (Erdal Şoreş) as a result of clashes that broke out on 21 June 2021 in the region of Garzan in Bitlis, was finally taken by his family, after a 210-day wait.
After the DNA test confirmed the identity of Özdemir, his remains were taken by the family from the cemetery of the nameless in Bitlis and were brought to Nusaybin, in the province of Mardin. The coffin, which entered the district under heavy police blockade, was taken to the Mohris Cemetery.
Özdemir was buried here at a ceremony that only family members were allowed to attend.
