Seventeen years old prisoner says why he is on hunger strike

In a letter in which he writes about himself, his feelings and thoughts, seventeen years old prisoner H.D. explains why he has joined the hunger strike. H.D. is in Þakran Juvenile prison in Ýzmir and he has gone on hunger strike on 15 October, joining the action carried out by hundreds of prisoners in various Turkish jails.

We publish the text of the letter:

“I was born in 1995, in the village of Karagu in Mardin’s Mazýdaðý district. After my arrest in the district of Kýzýltepe 18 months ago, I was transferred from Mardin E Type Prison to Ýzmir Juvenile Closed Prison last July. I am joining this hunger strike for the ending of the isolation policy against leader Öcalan and for the removal of all obstacles to the use of mother language. We, the children of the tradition of Amed prison resistance and comrades of those who defeated the 12 September military fascism in 1980, will in the same way defeat AKP’s green fascism and not give up our action no matter the costs. We are the children of those who love life to death.”
