Daily Azadiya Welat chief editor Mehmet Emin Yýldýrým has announced he is joining the hunger strike carried out by hundreds of prisoners. Yýldýrým, who is jailed in Kandýra 1 No F Type Closed Prison,is the sixth journalist to join the hunger strike.

The other journalists on hunger strike are: DIHA responsible editor Fatma Koçak, Daily Özgür Gündem editor Ayþe Oyman and DIHA worker Pervin Yerlikaya Babir in Bakýrköy Women Prison; DIHA Þýrnak reporter Faysal Tunç in Rize Kalkandere L Type Closed Prison; Daily Azadiya Welat Chief Editor Tayip Temel in Diyarbakýr D Type Closed Prison. Temel has been on hunger strike for 43 days and his health conditions are said to be serious.
