Prisoners made a statement concerning the dismissal of the lawyer by Lütfü Taþ’s, member of the Peace Group coming from Kandil and Mahmur. Prisoners remarked that Taþ’s attitude is not political or organizational, recording that the news of some media organs are true.
The news on media organs concerning Taþ’s deprivation of his lawyers M. Emin Aktar and Sezgin Tanrýkulu during the last trial in the previous days, saying that “Taþ developed an attitude towards Tanrýkulu when he joined CHP (Republican People’s Party)” were controverted with a statement made in prison.
A statement was made concerning the subject on behalf of the political prisoners in Diyarbakýr D Type Closed Prison. In the statement, it was reminded that Lütfü Taþ filed his petition to the court for the deprivation of his lawyers two months ago and added; “Our friend has hired new lawyers to defend him. At this conjunction, this subject was distorted by media and launched as an organizational attitude. Hence, we need to share with public that the related news on media are distorted and don’t reflect the truth”.
‘No political or organizational attitude’
The statement explained that the right of a person to refuse a lawyer should be considered in the same frame with his right to hire a lawyer and defend himself, as part of the right of defense and went on as follows; “However, some media organs distorted the exercise of a right, launched it as an organizational or political attitude and the basic right of individuals. In this sense, we prisoners release to the public that we don’t have any political or organizational attitude towards the stated lawyers and we remark that it is a personal attitude and a situation on the basis of lawyer- client relation.
