Two Syrian Kurdish doctors have been banned from travelling abroad by the state security directorate, reported KurdWatch, a Berlin based human rights organisation.
It is reported that ophthalmologist Mistefa Ebdilfetah was rejected at the El Hewa border gate on the Syrian-Turkish border on account of abroad-travel ban on him. He was advised to approach Political Security Directorate in al‑Hasakah. Similarly, another Kurdish doctor dentist Ýsa Ebdilhelim Þexo faces the same ban.
Both Kurdish doctors took part in a medical conference entitled “Mesopotamian Health Days” which was held in Diyarbakir between 22-24 October 2009. The conference was important because it was the first Kurdish medical conference ever in which more than 300 Kurdish doctors from all parts of Kurdistan as well as Europe have taken part.
Meanwhile, State Security Directorate started an investigation on Mistefa Ebdilfetah in April for taking part in this conference.
Since 2008 Syrian regime has revived its “Arab Belt” campaign which aims at 'Arabisation' of the Kurdish region in Syria. According to this the Syrian regime has banned the Kurds from selling-buying real estates in the region.
Meanwhile, in April the Syrian Ministry of Interior sent a decree attached “black list” to the registry offices not to issue any documents to those mostly Kurdish 287 regime opponents who are wanted on account of acts against the state security.
