A new case of torture occurred in Patnos L-Type Prison, a jail often sadly on the agenda because of torture and ill-treatment practices exposed in the past.

The family of political prisoner Mizgin Kayitbey in Patnos L-Type Prison, said that she was tortured by 30 guards. They applied to the IHD (Human Rights Association) and requested legal aid.

Mizgin Kayitbey was subjected to verbal and then physical violence by 30 male guards on the day she was taken to court. Kayitbey was hospitalized as she lost consciousness as a result of the blows she received. Kayitbey, however, was taken back to prison without being fully treated. She said that she was prevented from meeting with the prosecutor in her phone call with her family, and that her condition was not good due to the fractures, cuts, bleeding and bruises on her body.

After the phone call, the family applied to the Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul Branch and requested legal aid. Upon the family's request, a delegation from IHD Van Branch will go to Patnos Prison this week to meet with political prisoner Kayitbey.
