The rights violations and oppression towards political prisoners in prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan are on the rise. The prisons ran by the AKP have turned into veritable harassment and torture centers. Political prisoner in Van Closed Prison, Adem Er sent a letter to the IHD (Human Rights Association) Van Branch and wrote that he was constantly battered by the guards and the Van Closed Prison has turned into a veritable torture center.

"POLITICAL PRISONERS ARE BATTERED"

Political prisoner Adem Er pointed out that for more than one month, there have been daily searches in the wards and said: "The guards come into the rooms, confiscate all our belongings and beat us. The guards enter the wards arbitrarily and conduct searches. Our watches have been confiscated, they don't let us have newspapers or journals. Van Closed Prison is new, so it's very cold. I am calling on all of society, end this cruelty now."

"THEY BERATE US WITH FASCIST SLOGANS"

Er wrote that the Van Closed Prison has turned into a veritable torture center and added: "Many arrestees from the Gülen-Cemaat case have been placed among blocks with PKK prisoners. These people berate us every day and curse and insult us constantly. We appealed to the Prison Warden many times, but every time the Warden has kept his silence."
