Van Type T Prison was in the news for allegations of hogties and naked torture and now the wardens attacked the women visiting the prison.

“WARDENS TREAT THE PEOPLE HORRIBLY”

A woman named T.S. visited the prison during the week and said the following on the events that transpired: “Because visitation is one day every two months, it is extremely crowded and the wardens there treat people horribly, especially women. Wardens are insulting the women. When we protested this as all the women there, we were physically attacked by a male warden. They threatened us because we said ‘You can’t shout at these people, you can’t insult them’. They tried to deflect by saying ‘You are engaging in terrorist propaganda, we will launch an inquiry’. We complained to the prison prosecutor regarding this incident.”

“LIKE A NAZI CAMP”

One of the battered women, M.Ş., said: “They have turned the prisons into Nazi camps. It is serious that they put the visitors in a single file line. They beat up and threaten those who don’t accept this. We are subjected to all kinds of insults at the prison gates. We won’t accept this and we will appeal with the necessary authorities.”
