We want to live in our villages, not in the city, say forcibly displaced people

Goc-Der (Migrants Association) Van Branch has launched a new action called “I Want to Live in my Village not in the City”, writes DIHA news agency.

The association held a press conference in Catak district of Van to explain the reasons of the new action. The action is part of the wider initiative, Migration Week, which take place from 14 to 22 June. Members of Goc-Der carried a banner saying “I Want to Live in my Village instead of the City.”

Ali Emire, president of the association read a statement. He said: "War forced us to move out from our own land. We were living happily there. War created a situation were some places have been literally erased from the map since no one remained there to live." Emire ended his speech by saying that "We believe that solving the Kurdish question will bring an end to this forced migrations.”

Emire also said that in order for a solution to work, the village guard system has to be abolished.

The president of Goc Der called for the government to "to set up an action plan in order to create the condition for the return of internal refugees in accordance to internationally accepted legislation".
