Women prisoners in Sincan call on people to support the hunger strike resistance

The prisoners in Sincan Women's Closed Prison called on people to support the hunger strike resistance and said: "We will continue our action until we reach our goal."

The hunger strike launched by prisoners on 27 November 2020, against the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violation of rights in prison completed its 168th day. The 34th group of prisoners are now on hunger strike.

The prisoners called on people to support the hunger strike through their families.

Rojda Yıldız, who is being held in Sincan Women's Closed Prison, drew attention to the need for everyone to stand by the hunger strikers in a phone conversation with her family.

Yildiz gave the following messages: "First of all, I salute our resisting people and our friends. You know that the hunger strikes launched in Turkey and Kurdistan prisons are still going on. Our aim with this protest is to ensure the freedom of Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. The Kurdish people also know that the process we are in and the opportunities we have to fight, are the result of the thought and ideology of Leader Apo. Today, the occupying system aims at distancing us from Leader Apo's thought and philosophy through the isolation it imposed in Imrali. However, we will protect these achievements to the end. Our hunger strikes are also a part of this. We will continue our action until we reach our goal. First of all, women and youth should stand up for the resistance in prisons. This isolation affects women and young people the most. We greet the leadership's struggle and say; this is the time for freedom, this is the time of success."
