Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Women’s Council released a written statement on Kurdish prisoners hunger strike which has reached day 56. Ten thousand prisoners have joined the strike as of 5 November.
The Council called on all women’s organizations and feminist circles in Turkey to enhance struggle to prevent death; “We, as women who suffer the most and pay the biggest price in the war, will continue to take to the streets to stop the war and death and to fight for freedom for Mr. Öcalan and the right to education and defense in mother tongue”.
The Council also criticized PM Erdoðan who said the hunger strike is "a political show" and underlined that the AKP government has been trying to deceive the public opinion by means of all kinds of manipulation.
