The hunger strike launched in prisons demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan has left its third month behind.
The press release is held every week in Koşuyolu Park in the borough of Bağlar in Amed to draw attention to the hunger strike currently going on in prisons. This week the action was led by the Democratic Islam Congress (DIK). Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) members supported the action, and HDP Amed Deputy Remziye Tosun also participated.
Sit-in protest
Before the reading of the press release, many armoured vehicles and TOMA were deployed around Koşuyolu Park. Those who came to the park for the action surrounded by police. The crowd split into two groups and held a sit-in to protest the police harassment.
