An unconfirmed report of imminent execution of Kurdish prisoner Zeyneb Jalalian has been circulating since this morning.
According to Kurdish Perspective following confirmation of Zeyneb Jalalians’ sentence by the appeal court, her case has been sent to the executive branch of Revolutionary Court.
Zeyneb Jalalian who was arrested two years ago has been sentenced to this with charges of cooperation with PKK and combatant.
She was tried without the presence of her chosen lawyer, and her court session had reportedly only lasted few minutes.
Zeyneb’s appeal case was recently turned down by the court therefor her her execution sentence confirmed and approved. Kurdish Perspective reports this case has been ready for execution for 48 hours and all they are waiting on is the confirmation letter.
Following this news, we also came across another piece by HARANA where it has all been explained by one of Iran’s well known lawyer Mr Khalil Bahramian.
He stated he had done some research to this news’ validity but was not successful on finding any evidence it’s reliability.
He added: “Knowing she should be held in the general ward at Evin prison, but her transfer to Section 209 of Evin Prison have caused added concerns about her case.”
Bahramian also aded: “At this point all we would be able to do is to establish contact with UN Secretary-General, to intervene, and prevent the execution from happening.”
At this point more than 16 political activists have been sentenced to death by Iranian Revolutionary Court.
On the other side, a Kurdish political prisoner named Hebibulla Gulperipur, who was subjected to heavy tortures and made hunger strikes, is under execution threat at any time. Arrested on charges of being PJAK member and sentenced to death penalty, Gulperipur had heavy torture traces on his body and his two hands were broken during torture. Hebibulla Gulperipur started a hunger strike to protest against the imprisonment circumstances and against the execution decisions for 5 political prisoners on 9 May and the death penalty for himself. Continuing with the hunger strike, Gulperipur’s health deteriorated as he was constantly being threatened with death.
Gulperipur, who has been arrested in Mahabad Jail since 2009 October or November, was sentenced to death by Mahabad Revolution Court in April on charges of battling against God and being a PJAK member.
In Evin Jail in Tehran, Iranian regime hung 4 Kurdish teachers Ferzad Kemanger, Ferhad Wekili, Eli Heyderiyan, Þirin Elem Hulu and Mehdi Eslamiyan in 9 May morning. The authorities broke their own laws by not informing the families or the lawyers of the prisoners before executions. The prisoners were sentenced to death during a few minutes trials without any right to defend themselves. Despite 52 days after the executions, the bury place of the 5 prisoners haven’t been expressed to the families as they were buried secretly by the regime.
The number of hung political prisoners with PKK (Kurdistan workers Party) and PJAK since 2007 has increased to 7. Following the execution of Ýhsan Fetahiyan on 11 November 2009; imprisoned with PJAK case, Fesih Yasemini was hung on 6 January. Hasan Hikmet Demir was the first PJAK militant hung in 2007.
Eight of them being with PJAK case, 18 Kurdish political prisoners are under execution threat.
The prisoners charged with membership of PJAK are: Hebibulla Letifi (student), Rustem Arkiya, Zeyneb Celaliyan, Enwer Rustemi, Seyd Sami Huseyni, Seyd Cemal Muhemedi, Huseyin Xizri, Hebibulla Gulperi Pur.
Other Kurdish political prisoners: Þerko Maarfi, Mistefa Selimi Eyluyi, Mehemed Emin Aguþi, Reþîd Axkendî, Ehmed Puladxanî, Hesen Talî, Îrec Mihemedi, Mihemed Emin Abdullahi, Qadir Muhammed Zade, Eziz Mihemedzade.
