Special operations police attacked the Newroz celebration held in Hakkari's Gever (Yüksekova) district today with the motto “We will definitely win”.
People reacted to the special operations police that attempted to detain a person at the scene. Upon the reactions of the locals, police entered the celebration area with armored vehicles and started an attack on the crowd with tear gas. Three people were injured and more than 10 were detained during the crackdown.
It grabbed attention that special operations police threatened the people, saying "We will not let you celebrate Newroz" and swore at the participants of the event.
As elderly people felt faint as result of the attack, the crackdown and provocation by police forces continue.
