18 of the 24 people detained by Turkish soldiers across Aşût and Gêman villages and Minyaniş and Deştan hamlets of Hakkari’s Çukurca district during the curfew were brought to Çukurca Courthouse after being processed in the District Gendarme Command last night. 6 detainees including the Provincial Assembly member Abdullah Ölmez were released after their testimonies, and the remaining 12 people were arrested and sent to Hakkari Closed Prison for ‘being a member of an organization.’
Moreover, 6 villagers are still detained in the District Gendarme Command, and Turkish soldiers in armored vehicles prevent people from traveling in the region due to the on-going curfew and siege in the area.
