Because of the heavy snowfall in the Northern Kurdistan province of Dersim more and more people are stuck in their houses. The snow cover is growing almost continuously in the districts of Ovacık, Pülümür, Nazımiye and Hozat and is already 30 centimeters high. Many roads are closed, 139 villages and towns are completely cut off from the outside world. In Pülümür the schools therefore remain closed.

In the next few days more centimeters of snow are expected to fall, especially at high altitudes. Teams of the provincial winter road clearance service are in action in many places with snow and ice clearing vehicles.
