The devastating effect of 12 November’s 7.3 magnitude earthquake in Kermanshah province of Rojhilat (Eastern) Kurdistan continues. Tens of thousands of earthquake victims are still living in tents due to the discriminatory policies of the Iranian regime.
According to a report by Kurdistan Human Rights Association, 15 people have committed suicide in Kermanshah and affiliated towns for various reasons since the earthquake. The reasons for suicides are highlighted as “overwhelming trauma over losing relatives”, “social-economic issues caused by the regime’s discriminatory policies”, “severe psychological depression”, “daily problems”, “inadequacy of aid”, “heavy economic problems” and “sheltering problems”.
Experts state that moral and material support should be permanent after such incidents that cause great losses of life and property, but Iranian media and regime institutions are making efforts to ignore the losses caused by the earthquake since the very first day.
According to official statements, more than 600 people lost their lives and 10 thousand people got injured by the 7.3 magnitude earthquake of 12 November. However, these figures reportedly do not reflect the truth as more than a thousand people are reported to have lost their lives.
