33 Turkish soldiers killed during a HPG/YJA Star action in Şemzinan

33 Turkish soldiers were killed during the HPG/YJA Star action in Hakkari’s Şemzinan district on August 26.

HPG Media Center announced that the Turkish army launched an operation near the Mêrge and Ronahi hills of Hakkari’s Şemzinan area at 22:30 on August 26, and guerillas carried out an action against the soldiers at Ronahi hill from 2 directions at 12:00 on August 27.

HPG stated that 12 soldiers were killed during the action of the first unit and 7 soldiers were killed during the action of the second unit. The guerillas seized 3 HK-33 guns from the soldiers.

Turkish army retrieved the bodies of its dead soldiers with Skorsky-type helicopters supported by Kobra-type helicopters in 4 trips. Turkish soldiers then attempted to continue their operation, but 11 more soldiers were killed during the guerillas’ 3 sabotage actions. Turkish army shelled the area between 20:30 and 23:30 on August 27. On the same night, 3 more soldiers were killed and one army position was destroyed during the guerillas’ infiltration action near Ronahi hill.

HPG stated that 33 soldiers were killed and the Turkish units were baffled during the clashes in Şemzinan.

YJA STAR GUERILLAS DESTROYED 2 TENTS

HPG stated that YJA Star guerillas carried out an action against the soldiers near the Şehidan hill of Şırnak’s Uludere district at 06:00 on August 27. 2 tents were destroyed during the action, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been determined.

ASSASSINATION ACTIONS IN DERSİM

Lastly, HPG announced that 2 soldiers were killed and several others were injured during a series of assassination actions against the army units at the Geyiksuyu Batallion in Dersim at 10:40 on August 26. The action was carried out to commemorate Roza Efrin and other recently martyred guerillas.
