Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched 4 separate investigations on the Newroz celebrations in Amed held on March 21, the day marking the beginning of the Kurdish New Year. “Terrorist propaganda” was cited as the accusation.

Diyarbakır State Prosecutor’s Office has launched 4 separate investigations regarding “terrorist propaganda” after the Newroz celebrations which hundreds of thousands of people attended held in Newroz Park the day before. Reports say the Anti-terrorism Act investigations concern people carrying PKK flags and people in the footage from Sur that was broadcast on the cinevision set up in the stage during the celebrations.

The identities of 21 people to be investigated, 12 of whom are children, are yet to be determined.
