House raids and operations as part of the political genocide continue in Van. In addition to Metropolitan Co-mayor Bekir Kaya being taken into custody in Van centrum, 3 people were detained in Başkale district and 37 in Erciş district.

BAŞKALE

Several houses were raided simultaneously in Van’s Başkale district in the early morning hours. Police broke down doors in several homes including Başkale Municipal Council Members in the raids. They conducted searches in the homes and reportedly verbally harrassed the residents. In the raids, HDP district administrator Yılmaz Bozkurt was detained in Hafiziye neighborhood, DBP Başkale district administrators Nihat Ayhan and Güner Orhan were detained in Barış neighborhood. They were taken to the district security headquarters.

ERCİŞ

37 people including DBP Erciş district administrator İbrahim Çiftçi were detained in house raids in the early morning hours in Van’s Erciş district. The detainees were taken to Erciş security headquarters.
