HPG (People's Defense Forces) Media Center issued a written statement on guerrilla actions and Turkish army attacks.
HPG announced that guerrillas carried out an action against a police convoy on the road between Mardin’s Mazıdağı district and Amed near the village of Sultan Şeyhmus at 11:00 earlier yesterday. 5 police officers were killed in the sabotage action which was carried out in memory of the guerrillas that had lost their lives in Bagok.
HPG said that in a separate action guerrillas targeted the military base in Osmaniye with heavy weaponry at around 08:00 on March 21, but the results of this action couldn't be clarified.
Guerrillas also hit a Turkish army convoy carrying soldiers from Oremar military base to Hakkari’s Gever district at 12:00 on March 13. 2 soldiers were killed and 2 guerrillas fell as martyrs during the clashes that followed the action.
MORTAR AND HOWITZER ATTACKS
HPG stated that soldiers from the Mamreş outpost at the border of Hakkari's Şemdinli district shelled the Ronahi hill in Avashin region between 04:00 and 04:30 on March 21, and soldiers from the Zeytê outpost bombarded the areas of Hoppê and Dola Zeytê between 13:00 and 16:30 on March 22.
HPG said that soldiers from the Aruş outpost at the border of Şırnak’s Uludere district bombarded the Kuroşino hill in Metina area between 15:00 and 16:00 on March 22, and soldiers from Elemun outpost shelled the Martyr Dilber hill.
According to the HPG statement, soldiers from the Serê Sevê, Şkêr and Eriş outposts at the border of Hakkari's Çukurca district bombarded the nearby Çiyayê Reş and Xeregol hills between 11:00 and 12:00 on March 22, and 22:00 on March 22 and 06:00 on March 23.
HPG noted that Turkish warplanes bombed the Govendê area of Zagros region between 14:00 and 14:30 on March 22, and the Berbizina hill in Xınerê area between 01:00 and 02:30 on March 23.
TURKISH AERIAL ACTIVITY CONTINUES
In its statement, HPG said that the Turkish military’s aerial activities in Kurdistan continued as drones carried out reconnaissance flights over;
Zap region between 16:00 on March 21 and 04:00 on March 23,
Avashin region between 16:00 on March 21 and 11:00 on March 22,
Heftanin region between 20:00 on March 22 and 01:00 on March 23,
Xakurke region between 05:00 and 09:00 on March 23.
Also, Turkish warplanes flew over Xakurke between 01:00 and 02:30 and over Zap between 01:00 and 04:00 on March 23.
ONE GUERILLA DIED OF HEART ATTACK
HPG Media Center announced that a guerrilla named Gabar – Firaz Humayan lost his life due to a heart attack in the Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones on March 10. Gabar had joined the Kurdistan Freedom Movement from East Kurdistan in 2010, and carried out his duties in a spirit of determination and sacrifice. HPG promised to commemorate Gabar’s memory, and offered its condolences to the Humayan family.
