5 Turkish soldiers killed in Heftanin

Five soldiers of the Turkish army were killed in actions of the women's guerrilla troop YJA-Star in Heftanin in Southern Kurdistan.

In the Heftanin region of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), five Turkish soldiers were killed in sniper actions of the women's guerrilla troop YJA-Star (Yekîtiya Jinên Azad), according to a statement published by the Press Office of the People's Defence Forces HPG (Hêzên Parastina Gel) on the resistance against the Turkish invasion in the guerrilla area.

According to the statement, all actions took place yesterday, Friday. Three soldiers were killed on Hill Şehîd Cûdî, which is located in the area of Şeşdara, one soldier on the nearby Hill Tunelê and another one on Hill Şehîd Bêrîvan.

In the statement, the HPG also announced continued air attacks of the Turkish army against the Medya Defense Zones located in Southern Kurdistan.

Accordingly, Turkish jets attacked the area of Şehîd Diren in Avashin region and the areas of Karker and Şehîd Şahin in Zap region at about 1.30 pm on July 17.  There were no casualties in the guerrilla ranks, but the bombing caused a forest fire.
