The popular resistance in Şırnak's Cizre district has already left a mark on the Kurdish history by taking no step backward in the face of the genocidal attacks by state forces during two months of onslaught.

More than 200 people have lost their lives as a result of all-out attacks conducted by the Turkish state against the will of the Kurdish people. These include university students who came to Cizre for solidarity, women, elderly, children and even unborn babies.

Bodies of 54 victims that are kept in the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) temporarily set up at Khabur Border Gate have yet to be identified through DNA tests. Most of the corpses are burnt and dismembered which makes identification impossible without DNA samples from families.

Families of probable victims have already given a DNA sample but the identification hasn't been realized yet for 12 days.
