The People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Centre has released a written statement concerning the latest guerrilla actions and invasion attacks of the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The statement includes the following:
“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Metîna region:
On August 4, at 12:00, the Turkish troops in Boxaza Girê Milîtan were struck by guerrillas based on assassination tactics, which left one soldier dead.
“As part of the Bazên Zagrosê Revolutionary Campaign in the Xakurke region:
On August 2, at 05:40, a coordinated guerrilla action was carried out against the invaders on Koordine Hill in the Martyr Berîtan area. Six soldiers were killed and one security camera on the hill was destroyed. One drone of the Turkish army, which bombed the surrounding areas with heavy weapons following the action, was shot down by our forces and its wreckage was confiscated.
This successful action by our YJA Star forces was carried out in memory of our comrade Martyr Agîd Garzan, our former Xakurkê State Commander, who was martyred on August 11, 2020.
On August 4, between 20:30 and 00:00, Turkish helicopter activity was observed on the Qaşura line of the Metîna region. The vicinity of the villages of Kêste and Hirore in the Kanî Masî sub-district of the Amadiya district and the slopes of Girê Martyr Çiya were bombed by combat helicopters.
On the same day, at 12:30, the vicinity of Kêste and Hirore villages were bombed with howitzers and mortars.
On August 4, between 09:30 and 09:45, the Yekmale and Şiyê villages in Dinartê sub-district of Akra district were bombed by Turkish fighter jets. On the same day, between 09:50 and 10:00, the Kafya area was bombed by fighter jets.
On August 4, between 10:30 and 14:15, the battle tunnels in the Girê Sor area of Avaşîn region were bombed with explosives. On the same day, between 11:20 and 12:20, the Turkish army attacked the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area with poisonous gases. The same tunnels were bombed with explosives between 21:00 and 21:10 hours.
On August 4, between 00:00 and 01:30, the Çemço area in the Zap region and the Rênçbiraxa village were bombed with howitzers fired from the border line.
We suffered no casualties during these attacks.”
