A mass grave will be opened today in the town of Herdan, in Shengal. The mass grave contains the remains of a number of people killed by ISIS mercenaries in 2014.

A mass grave will be opened in the town of Herdan in Shengal this morning. The mass grave contains the remains of a number of people murdered by ISIS mercenaries in 2014.

The opening of the mass grave will be carried out in the presence of Iraqi government officials, United Nations representatives, the Autonomous Administration, PADÊ and Yazidi religious scholars.

Herdan is located in the northeast of Shengal and was attacked by ISIS mercenaries on 3 August 2014.

Before the massacre, there were 200 families living in Herdan, of which 80 were Arabs. After the KDP peshmergas fled Shengal and left the people alone, nearly 500 people, including women and children, were kidnapped and killed in Herdan.

In addition, 72 people were killed around Herdan and buried in a mass grave.
