Thousands bid their farewell to Manbij Military Assembly member Feysel Abû Layla and SDF fighter Harûn Kobanê in a military ceremony held by their comrades in arms.

Manbij Military Assembly Member and Shams al-Shamal Brigade Commander Faysal Abû Layla who died of the wounds he had suffered during the Manbij Liberation Operation against ISIS gangs was laid to rest along with SDF fighter Harûn Kobanê who lost his life in a glorious ceremony. Tens of thousands of Kobanê citizens received the bodies of Commander Feysel Abû Layla and SDF fighter Harûn Kobanê from Institution for Families of Martyrs and took them to Martyr Dicle Cemetery where they would be buried.

The ceremony which started with a minute’s silence was attended by Rojava-Northern Syria Democratic Federal System Constituent Assembly Co-chair Hediye Yusuf, Syrian Democratic Council Co-president İlham Ehmed, PYD Co-chair Salih Müslim, SDF Official Spokesperson Şervan Derwîş, Shams al-Shamal Brigades General Commander Mihemed Ebû Adêl, Kobanê Democratic Autonomous Administration Advisor Rûken Ehmed, Foreign Relations Council President Îbrahîm Kurdo and Economy Council President Fethî Misiro, as well as administrators and members of Kobanê Canton institutions and organisations.

After the convoy arrived in the martyrs’ cemetery YPG/YPJ and Manbij Military Assembly fighters held a military ceremony for the their fallen commander.

One of the YPG commanders Cemil Kobanê gave a speech in the ceremony and said, “Commander Abû Layla was involved in the Syria revolution struggle since the day it began. So many revolutionary fighters expressed their will and fought relentlessly in Kobanê. Commander Abû Layla had taken his part in this resistance with all his courage and dedication. He never feared death. He was there whenever there was an attack by the gangs. The belief that strengthened his will was the Kobanê resistance.”

Following him, SDF Spokesperson Şervan Derwêş said, “Abû Layla has become an unforgettable value of Rojava.”

Derwêş continued: “Let those who didn’t know Abû Layla know: He took up arms to defend his people and his land and he resisted until the very end. He fought in Sheikh Maqsoud against the regime, in Shehba and Kobanê against the gangs and in many other fronts for his people.”

Following the speeches, Abû Layla and SDF fighter Harûn Kobanê were buried along with slogans.
