The ban on activities in the northern Kurdistan province of Hakkari, which has been ongoing since last year, has been renewed for another month.
As announced by the Hakkari Governorate, the ban on activities that has been ongoing since last year has been extended for one month.
The provincial governor's statement says that public rallies, setting up of stands and tents, holding sit-ins or commemorative events, distributing leaflets and hanging banners or posters between July 1 and 30 are prohibited.
Meetings and ceremonies of official authorities and institutions are not affected by the prohibition of activity, which is to serve as a "measure for rest and security within the provincial borders".
However, since the ban on activities went into effect in 2017, only events of the governing party AKP and institutions close to the AKP have been allowed in the city. Opposition forces or non-governmental civil society organizations have not been given permission to hold demonstrations or similar events.
