Ağrı Co-mayor Mukaddes Kubilay has also been jailed as part of the Turkish state's increasingly ongoing operations of political genocide against the Kurds and their elected representatives.
Ağrı Co-mayor Mukaddes Kubilay got arrested 6 days after she was detained during a raid at her daughter’s house where she was a guest.
After giving her testimony, Kubilay was transfered to Ağrı Court of Peace with a request of arrest. Charged with ‘membership to a terrorist organisation,’ she was arrested and sent to Ağrı M Type Closed Prison.
Kubilay sent a message through her lawyer and emphasized that the arrest has no legal basis. In the message, she said "The arrest is unlawful and is a result of conspiracies and slander. We will not surrender. Our struggle for freedom, democracy and peace will prevail. I want all our people to be strong. We will prevail."
