AKP instructs banks: No loans for workers of DBP municipalities

Implementing the total dirty war concept against the Kurdish people, the AKP regime is preventing the workers in the usurped DBP municipalities from taking out loans.

The dirty war concept based on total denial, annihilation and intimidation the AKP regime implements as part of their anti-Kurdish policies has taken over all facets of life. Following the attack on the officials elected by the Kurdish people, the civilian coup under the guise of trustee appointments to DBP municipalities, the shutting down of NGOs, now attacks on public workers, tenured staff, contracted staff and subcontracted workers have started.

In Urfa, a new layer of the AKP regime’s intimidation policies comes to light every day since the coup against DBP’s Viranşehir, Bozova and Halfeti municipalities which have the district governors appointed as de facto trustees by the Governorate.

THE BANK: “WE HAVE ORDERS FROM HQ”

AKP has given orders on the headquarters level to the banks DBP municipalities have their funds in, and threatened the banks with sanctions if they issue any loans under any circumstances to the employees of the DBP municipalities. Employees in DBP municipalities were told they “can not be given loans” by the bank officials because they have “orders from Headquarters” when they applied for private, car and mortgage loans at İş Bank and Ziraat Bank.

According to the bank employees, the banks made the decisions in the central headquarters and sent it over to branches, ordering no loans to be issued for DBP municipality employees.

Municipality employees underline that the AKP regime is attempting a “victory” over the victimization of the Kurdish people but they will be disappointed.
