Anter Anter, son of the Kurdish writer Musa Anter, passed away. The 79-year-old was found lifeless in the bathroom of his house in the village of Akarsu (Sitîlîlê) in Mardin’s Nusaybin district on Friday. An emergency doctor called by relatives could only confirm his death, local media reported. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of Anter's death.

Anter’s death occurred on the 32nd anniversary of the death of his father, Musa Anter. The Kurdish intellectual was murdered by the Turkish counter-guerrilla in Amed (Diyarbakır) on 20 September 1992. A memorial event took place today at the crime scene in the Seyrantepe district, attended by numerous personalities from politics, the press and civil society.
