Civil servant teachers have today been informed via SMS messages that schools will remain closed for an indefinite period.

While the Directorate of National Education has the student dormitories evacuated, an official letter sent to state hospitals asked the administrators to “hold their staff and materials ready”.

These most recent developments come after the intense deployment of Turkish forces in both district of Şırnak.

Reports are coming through that police teams are patrolling in a convoy of armored vehicles and opening random fire on Orhan Doğan, Yafes and Arin Mirxan streets.

Shopkeepers have closed the shutters down as attacks by state forces intensify.

In the meantime, as many as 150 armored military vehicles have been positioned at various locations across Silopi. A number of cargo planes carrying military personnel and materials have reportedly landed in Şerafettin Elçi Airport.

On the other hand, military forces have set up 5 check points between Şırnak and Cizre, and others on Cizre-Silopi, Cizre-İdil and Cizre-Güçlükonak roads.
