The International Kurdish Conference organised jointly by Union of International Kurdish Social Institutions and Russian Institute of Strategic Research (RISI) continues in Moscow.

The International Kurdish Conference organised jointly by Union of International Kurdish Social Institutions and Russian Institute of Strategic Research (RISI) continues in Moscow.

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Co-Presidency has sent a message to the conference, which was read out by KNK member Selahattin Soro following the speech of chair of A Just Russia, Sergey Miranov.

The message by the KCK stressed that success cannot be talked about in any place where the political path of Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK is not taken into consideration, and added that the situation in the Turkish Republic after 7 June elections demonstrates this truth very well.

GLAZOVA: THE INFLUENCE OF ÖCALAN AND PKK MUST BE RECOGNISED

The KCK message was followed by the speech of Anna Glazova, member of the board of Russian Institute of Strategic Research, who stressed that the powers that do not take the Kurds and their position into consideration, cannot make their influence felt in the region.

“This is why an ear must be given to the demands of Kurds and their desire for co-existence. The Kurdish people have demonstrated a strong will to throw ISIS out of their lands while the whole world failed to deal with the ISIS trouble. The influence of Abdullah Öcalan and the PKK on the Kurdish people must be recognised and the Kurdish people must be approached accordingly. Politics cannot be pursued in the current century by a sense of denial and annihilation”, said Glazova.

BAKLANOV: RUSSIA MUST TAKE KURDS SERIOUSLY

In another speech, Andrey Baklanov, head of Lawyers' Association of Russian Federation, said Russia must take Kurds seriously and enter into a dialogue with them in the framework of judicial norms as a state of law and justice.

ABDULLAH: KURDS HAVE LEFT THEIR MARK ON THE CENTURY

Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-chair Asya Abdullah also held a speech at the conference, in which she stressed that the Kurds in Rojava have fought against a fascists and primitive force like ISIS without getting support from anyone. Abdullah told that;

“With their resistance mainly in Kobanê, Kurds have left their mark on the century in this war. Kurds are now building their own system within the territory of Syria. without being depended on any other force, Kurds are ruling themselves on the basis of this system which consists of autonomous cantons and enables women, youths and all other segments of society to express themselves with their specific identities. While building this system, we never based it on promoting a separation in Syria. Our aim is to ensure the democratization of Syria and self-expression of all peoples in a Democratic Syria with their own identities.”

Abdullah drew attention to the fact that Kurds have also reached a certain level in military aspect, as the YPG and YPJ have become Kurdish defense forces in Rojava today as a military force fighting against all the factors that threaten not only Kurds but also all the peoples living in the region.

“When ISIS first started to attack Rojava, some said we would not be able to resist. These are the mindsets that do not know about the will of Kurds yet and deny them. However, Kurds have reached such a level that no one can deny them anymore”, Abdullah added.
