At least 11 soldiers killed in Şemzinan

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas targeted the soldiers participating in an operation in Şemzinan on November 22, which left at least 11 soldiers of the Turkish army dead.

In its daily report, HPG Press Office recalled that Turkish army had launched an operation in Adılbeg area in Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district on November 14, reporting that guerrillas hit the operational forces from two directions at 14:45 on November 22.

Guerrillas hit the soldiers at close range after infiltrating into their positions on a hill, while another guerrilla unit hit the Turkish unit with heavy weapons.

8 soldiers were killed during clashes that lasted around one hour, and 3 others were killed in targeted shots. In the wake of the action by guerrillas, Turkish troops hit the surrounding areas with howitzer and mortar fire, and Sikorsky helicopters retrieved the dead and wounded soldiers from the scene during the night.

HPG stated that Turkish jets bombed the areas of Şukê and Mervanos in Hakkari's Yüksekova district at noon on November 22.

Turkish fighter jets also bombarded the Çiyayê Reş area, skirts of the Cehennem hill and Yekdarê hillside between 11.00 - 18.00 the same day.

HPG added that Turkish troops launched another operation in Şırnak's Besta area at 00:00 on November 21.
