In Cizre district of Şırnak which remains under a heavy onslaught for 16 days, state forces tried to enter Nur neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Fighting erupted as soldiers attempted to infiltrate into the neighborhood from Atatürk Anatolian High School near the Garrison Command in the district.

At least one soldier was reported killed and many other members of police and military forces were wounded in the heavy clash which ended upon state forces' withdrawal to the Garrison Command.

While more tanks and armored vehicles have been sent to the scene and started to bomb the neighborhood, attacks have left many houses damaged. The town is also witnessing intense helicopter activity in the wake of the clash.

Both Nur and Cudi neighborhoods are being targeted with tanks and heavy arms from four directions; Tank Battalion, Hill Aşk, area of flour plant and police lodging building since early this morning.
