Families of 53 people massacred in the basements of savagery in Cizre continue to wait at Khabur Border Gate in order to identify the bodies of their children.
Halil Uysal, the father of Hülya Uysal, said that he has been waiting in Khabur Border Gate for 10 days now, and described the Cizre massacre as savagery. Uysal noted that many of the bodies massacred by state forces were impossible to identify, and criticized the savagery of state forces as well as delays in body identification procedures in the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) temporarily set up in Khabur.
Yesterday, three more bodies were brought from Cizre to the temporary ATK in Khabur. Among the total of 62 bodies here, only 11 bodies have been delivered to their families so far.
HDP Mardin Parliamentarian Ali Atalan criticized the torturous procedures put in place at Habur ATK, and called for acceleration in DNA tests that are necessary for identification. HDP MP emphasized that the families should not have to identify their children’s bodies through photos. Lastly, Atalan noted that many families had to go to other towns such as Mardin, Urfa, Antep and Şırnak for identification purposes, and this process has a catastrophic effect on the families.
