A total of 27 burnt and fragmented corpses were retrieved from the scene of the massacre committed by Turkish state forces in a basement in Şırnak's Cizre district 2 days ago. The bodies were yesterday taken to Cizre State Hospital with municipal ambulances which state forces allowed access to the scene only after the massacre.
12 of the bodies were later sent to Şırnak, 7 to Urfa and 8 others to Mardin. These had been retrieved from the building where the second "basement of atrocity" is located, and its surroundings.
While the autopsy of the 8 sent to Mardin State Hospital continues since this morning, post-mortem examination has also been started on the other 12 corpses taken to Şırnak State Hospital.
According to the remarks of those who participated in the autopsy, bodies are mostly burnt and dismembered, and unidentifiable due to an utmost burnt. Accordingly, one of the victims was beheaded, because of which only the body underwent an autopsy. Both legs of another body were also fragmented.
Bodies are expected to be sent back to Cizre after the finalization of autopsy procedures.
