The youth by the name of Selim Turay died as a result of the aggression by state forces in Cudi neighborhood on 26 January. His body since remains in the neighborhood on alleged grounds of “clashes taking place in the area”.
Turay’s brother told HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız about the incident, upon which Cizre Municipality ambulance made attempts for the retrieval of the body from the neighborhood, but was disallowed by police on the grounds that "the area is not safe".
In the meantime, Turkish military and police forces continue conducting house raids in many neighborhoods of Cizre town. More than 200 people have been taken into custody during the course of the ongoing curfew and onslaught in the town, mainly during the past 10 days.
