Republican People's Party (CHP) spokesperson Deniz Yücel made a statement about the deposition of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Hakkari (Colemêrg) Municipality after the party’s Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting.
Yücel said that a delegation of party members will go to Hakkari today. Yücel said: "The will of our citizens reflected in the ballot box on 31 March sent messages to the government on many issues. One of these was the appointment of trustees. We understand from the appointment of a trustee to Hakkari Municipality on Monday that the government still cannot understand these messages."
Yücel said that various questions could be asked about the trustee and added: "If there were serious enough allegations against this mayor that he would be dismissed after two months, why was his candidacy allowed?" If this mayor's candidacy was approved by the YSK, and was elected, then why is there a political intervention in the will of the people? Appointing a trustee to Hakkari is usurping the will of Hakkari people."

Yücel said that the trustee practice is intolerance to democracy and added: "Appointing a trustee means ignoring the presumption of innocence and directly declaring the elected mayor, for whom there is no final judicial decision yet, guilty. We are undoubtedly in favor of the will of the people of Hakkari and against the trustee mentality. This issue was discussed in our MYK meeting and with the appointment of MYK, we will go to Hakkari today with our deputy chair Zeliha Aksaz Şahbaz, our Antalya MP Cavit Arı, and our Bursa MP Kayıhan Pala. We will have meetings about this anti-democratic practice and inform the people."
