According to ANF reporters on the ground, guerrilla forces were preparing for an action against Çeme Kurke Asayish in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district on August 13 when they were spotted by Turkish soldiers, which resulted in an armed confrontation. The clash lasted for an hour and no details are available yet regarding its outcomes.
In the meantime, guerrillas infiltrated the Haruna hill in Şemdinli on August 14, and encountered a group of soldiers here. During a brief clash that erupted afterwards, 2 soldiers were killed and many others wounded, whom the Turkish army retrieved from the scene with Sikorsky helicopters in the evening.
Again on August 14, guerrillas hit the Ronahi hill in Şemdinli with mortars. Several mortar shells hit the hill where Turkish soldiers were stationed.
On the other hand, the Turkish army is reported to be resorting to dirty provocations in Şapatan village of Şemdinli. Turkish soldiers have planted explosives in some areas of the village, and started spreading propaganda that the explosives were laid by the guerrillas.
