Police continue to attack people in Hakkari's Yüksekova (Gever) district in the wake of the savage murder of an elderly civilian, Hasan Han, who was run over and killed by an anti-riot police vehicle earlier today.

Armored vehicles deployed on Eczaneler Street, where the incident took place, are opening random fire on people that gathered at the scene to retrieve the man's body.

Clashes have erupted in the town centre upon the response of local self-defense units YPS to the attack by Turkish forces. Members of Civil Defense Units (Yekineyên Parastina Sîvîl, YPS) have built up barricades and started resistance in the town centre to which a number of armored vehicles have been dispatched.
