Clerks and state employees launch a boycott in Sulaymaniyah

Clerks and state employees in and around Sulaymaniyah launched a boycott because they have not received their salaries.

Clerks and state employees in South Kurdistan met in front of the Sulaymaniyah Clerks Center and held a press conference to announce that they are launching a boycott action and will stop working until their salaries are paid.

In a joint statement, clerks and state employees noted that officials have not responded to any of the demands they had made, including the demand for a pay raise. Therefore, clerks and state employees in Sulaymaniyah and 21 towns and districts launched a boycott to make their voices heard by the President of the Kurdistan region and other officials.

In their statement, clerks and state employees demanded an end to the late payment of salaries as well as the payment of their 2015 salaries through the opening of bank accounts. Lastly, the protestors emphasized that the boycott would continue until the existing problems are solved.
