Co-mayor of Silopi, Emine Esmer, has been taken into custody by Turkish security members at Botaş Check Point.

Esmer's car was stopped here while on her way back from Amed to the town together with a delegation from GAP Union of Municipalities. Her driver Cemal Yiğit was also detained.

The co-mayor and her driver have been taken to Silopi police headquarters.
