Co-mayor of Şırnak's Balveren town has been jailed for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization”.

Co-mayor of Şırnak's Balveren town municipality, Abdullah Tunç had been detained during raids on the municipal building and the offices of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) the day before.
Co-mayor Tunç was referred to court today after procedures at Şırnak Gendarmerie Division Command.
After his testimony, the co-mayor was remanded in custody for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization”, and he was sent to Şırnak T Type Closed Prison.
On the other hand, DBP Balveren co-chair Sadun Sezer, who was also detained during the same operation, has been released after procedures.
