A condolence tent was set up in Rojhilat for Martyr Rênas Roj, the YPG Commander who fell on 19 August on the road between Qamişlo and Hesekê.

A condolence tent was set up in the town of Tîleko in Saqız, Rojhilat [Eastern Kurdistan], for YPG commander Rênas Roj (Selahettin Şehabî), who fell a martyr as a result of the reconnaissance attack carried out by Turkey on 19 August on the road between Qamişlo and Hesekê.

Relatives and residents of Martyr Rênas Roj visited the condolence tent.

The YPG said in a statement that “Commander Rênas Roj was martyred in a drone attack on the road between Qamişlo and Hesekê. He was from Rojhilat and joined the ranks of the revolution because he was aware of his historical responsibility. He revolted against the policies of oppression, genocide and annihilation of the Kurdish people. In the revolution of Rojava, he fought against the war of annihilation and was on the front line where he fulfilled his responsibility. He led an incomparable resistance against ISIS and the Turkish state, sometimes as a fighter, sometimes as a commander. With great vitality, he carried out all the tasks under all circumstances and without hesitation.

Rênas Roj participated in revolutionary work in many regions of Kurdistan with great ambition and determination. Like his brother Rêbaz, who is considered a symbol of the sacrificial youth of Kurdistan, he joined the caravan of the martyrs. In the thirty years of his revolutionary life, he has shown heroism and great determination."
