Court in Duhok sentences PUK and HDP members to 7 years in prison
A court in Duhok sentenced PUK member Zakho Mela Nezir and HDP member Nimet Güneş to 7 years in prison on the grounds that they had relations with the PKK.
KDP public order forces detained Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) member Nimet Güneş (55), who has been living in Zakho for more than 10 years, on 5 February 2020, and Mela Nezîr Berwarî, member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on 11 February 2021, in Derkarê.
During the hearing of Nimet Güneş and Mela Nezîr Berwarî at the Duhok Court, the two were sentenced to 7 years in prison on the grounds that they had relations with the PKK without any evidence.
