The curfew and destruction in Şırnak, which had begun on March 14, enters its 7th month. Soldiers’ shelling has damaged almost every house, and the destruction of houses continues despite state officials’ claims on June 3 that the operation in the city was over.
11 heavy construction vehicles continue to demolish houses in Dicle, Cumhuriyet, Bahçelievler and İsmetpaşa neighborhoods. Almost every house in Yeni Mahalle has already been destroyed.
Civilians keeping watch on their neighborhoods called upon the residents of Şırnak to return to their city, and said "We will not allow the destruction of our houses, which we have built ourselves. People of Şırnak that migrated must return and resist the destruction. We will repair and rebuild our houses that have been damaged or destroyed.
