Day 9 of Peace Mothers' sit-in against the embargo on Maxmur

Peace Mothers who have been waiting at the checkpoint for days have been subjected to insults and attacks by peshmergas many times.

The embargo on Martyr Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp has been going on for 54 days.

Despite all attempts and requests, the government, the KDP, have done nothing to lift the embargo.

A group of Maxmur Peace Mothers has been protesting the embargo with a sit-in in front of the KDP public security forces since 1 September.

Peace Mothers who have been waiting at the checkpoint for days have been subjected to insults and attacks by peshmergas many times.

Mothers are continuing their sit-in despite the heat and difficulties due to their age. They want to meet with the authorities in Hewlêr to learn why the embargo has been imposed.

However, the Kurdistan Region Government remains silent and does not answer the demands of the Peace Mothers who reiterated they won't end their action until the embargo is lifted.

The security forces at the checkpoint do not allow people to visit the mothers.
