Death toll rises to 11 in Hewler floods

Flood disaster has struck southeast of Hewler. The authorities have warned about further rainfalls.

The number of people who lost their lives in the flood disaster caused by heavy rainfall in Hewler (Erbil) city of the Kurdistan region has increased to 11.

According to information received from local authorities, the civil defence organization reached the bodies of the three missing persons. It is reported that one of the missing persons was a citizen of the Philippines and the other a Turkish citizen.

The number of people who lost their lives in the floods has risen to 11 after previous reports of 8 dead.

Among the dead are women and children. On the other hand, four members of the rescue teams were injured during the aid efforts.
