Dêrîn Peshmerga: The gains of Raperîn have not been protected

On the anniversary of the popular uprising (Raperîn) in South Kurdistan against the Baathist regime 33 years ago, a ceremony organized by the former-retired Peshmerga (Dêrîn) reacted to the attacks of the occupying Turkish state.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Kurdistan Dêrîn Peshmerga Association in Sulaymaniyah, Cemil Hewrami, the president of the association, celebrated the anniversary of Raperîn and said, "Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Region government has not been able to protect the gains of Raperîn properly. The Dêrîn Peshmerga are also in a very bad economic situation.”

Hewrami warned that the Kurdistan Region is heading towards a dangerous situation due to the lack of unity among Kurdish parties in South Kurdistan.

"We see that the occupying states, especially the Turkish state, are bombing the cities of Southern Kurdistan every day and martyring Kurdish youth," Hewrami said and drew attention to the situation of Behdinan prisoners.

Cemil Hewrami said, "We all know why Behdinan prisoners are being held in prison. Some of them were arrested for their comments, others for a rifle found in their homes. On the other hand, we see some others traveling with heavy weapons and no one is saying anything about it."

Finally, Cemil Hewrami called on all political parties in the Kurdistan Region to make this year's Newroz an occasion for peace, unity and a stand against occupation.
